I cant seem to find an app to stream or download movies to my phone on the market. Anyone know what would be good for me. I do have the DVD to Droid download on my laptop but I was thinking about some flexibility on the fly. I have a seven year old and we are traveling this weekend so this will come in handy.

thanks in advance.

There wont be much in the market since that's massive bandwidth for a company to host (like Netflix) for a mobile device. Just not gonna be there, but there are options if you have them on your PC.

Streaming: ORB
- You install it on your PC w/ said movies.
- Visit Orb on your Droid/Wireless device. Select movie/audio and it will open the media player and stream it.

Local install: DoubleTwist
- It will convert your items to Droid playable video, and you can install it on your media card, and playback via any of the 5,000,000 players out there...lol.

Well there's always ORB, but you'll need to have the movies stored on your home computer and install Orb on it too. And the picture quality will be less than good.

LOL, Digitard beat me to it. And he's right about DoubleTwist. It's not streaming but you'll get much better results.

"LukLuk" its in the market and it streams high quality movies. It is free all you have to do is register to get the full list of available movies. There are plenty of kids movies too I saw "Toy Story" and "Ice Age".

I'm a newbie with my Droid 2. I had a Storm. On the Crackberry site there is a movie download thread. I could download a movie to my PC and copy it over to my Storm. It would play fine With the Droid it doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong.

I found a decent app... Movie Time .... it has only public domain movies so most are old, but it streams and allows for download to watch later. Developer is smcohen.com

also if you have movies, pics, music on your pc, i have been using Libox.. no install needed on your phone since none available yet for android, but the app installs on your pc and you can access your files over the internet, no conversion required, plays as is.. I don't know if were are allowed to link or not, but just google Libox.

iphone4idiots.com has hundreds of movies and tv shows you can download either from your pc or right on your android phone. You do have to register though.

Subsonic is apparently going to release an update that allows for video streaming from your home (or hosted) PC.

(They currently allow streaming of your music from your PC so you technically don't have to sync and carry-around your entire MP3 library on your phone.)

Let's see what "arrives"... :)

It's out in beta now. You'll need the latest version of the server software, along with the newest Android client on the market.

I haven't tried it out myself yet (I haven't updated to the beta yet), but, again, it's beta. It's being very actively developed, but YMMV. If something breaks, let the developer know on the forums and it should be taken care of next release.
