Is this possible on the eris? I keep running low on memory on my phone and I was wondering if this would help?

Thanks

Two things:

Yes, you can put apps on the SD but you have to root. The ROM I user is xtrSense and includes Apps2SD.

Second, I've had this problem with low memory. Rooting and installing xtrSense well free up a LOT of memory. But if you don't want to root, go to settings, applications and manage applications (or something like that), then sort by size. My bet is Gmail and/or your web browser are holding a lot of data. You can clear the cache in your browser and clear the data in your Gmail (it will not delete your Emails, since those are synced, it simply clears data on your phone).

I highly recommend rooting, but if you don't want to then try checking your app cache and data.

To add to the last post, the rooted Android 2.1 ROM builds xtrROM, xtrSENSE, xtrRCMIX and Vanilla 2.0.4 use a feature called cache2cache. It moves the Dalvik cache from the /data area, where your apps and data are stored, to the relatively unused /cache area, which frees up a lot of internal storage for apps and will allow you ti run the phone without having to move apps to the SD card at all.

The Dalvik cache on my phone uses up almost 89 MB, so this can make a lot of difference if you install a lot of apps on your phone.
