Moving files from PC to Phone

Can't wait to set this up when I get home later. Thanks for the link for how-to

I have been giving this a try off and on since it was first suggested and so far have been unable to get it to work. i know the directions are good, and I think I have a decent grasp of it but I am just getting nowhere fast.

Gonna give it another try before I go into details with my issues. I will report back in a bit, thanks for all the suggestions guys and gals...

If you're having issues, it's most likely user/permissions related.

My main share on my network is from a Linux system, and it's always worked easily and perfectly. On my Windows system, I don't have a password set up (no point on a home PC that I only use), and that made it complicated to share a volume, since sharing it always seemed to deny a blank password. The workaround is to either set up a password with your user account (a PITA if you don't really want one), or to set up a new user in Windows with a password, and share the volume with that username/password.

Not sure that's your issue, but that's the only thing that I found to be tricky. If the issue is on the phone end with CIFS manager, make sure you have the one (on Android 2.1), or two (on FroYo) .ko files properly set.

that was issues 1 and 2.

I didnt have a password, so I set one up. No big deal did my shares right (checked it with other computers to see if they at least can access it) then moved onto the setting up CIFS manager. took me awhile to realize that i had a typo the first time through. but even after i caught that, it refused to mount.

In about 10 minutes I am gonna try it again and i will report back the error if I get it again.

Great app for transferring files without connecting is SwiFTP. Pretty quick for most file, just drag and drop.
