Moving my DROID to daughter (procedure?)

I have an original DROID that I wish to give to my daughter this coming weekend. I will just have Verizon swap our phone numbers; I will keep her old phone for a week or so before moving to either a DROID2 or DROID-X.

Can anyone please advise the best way to handle "wiping" the DROID and preparing it for her Google account and usage? And when is the best time to do this: either before or after I get VZW on the phone to switch the numbers? Will it retain the Froyo update to 2.2 after the reset?

Lots of questions and I really appreciate the assistance - I was a long-time BB user before coming over to Android. This is my first time having to deal with this procedure on Android! Am sure I will be back here when I need to activate my new DROID... thanks!

the tech on the phone will walk you right through it when you're on the phone with them.

Doing a factory reset should be sufficient to wipe the phone clean. You might want to either replace the SD Card or reformat it entirely, but it shouldn't take more than this. And it should stay on 2.2 as well.

But Cory is right also... the VZW Rep on the phone should be able to walk you through all of this if you would rather not go it alone.

If you do a factory reset, you'll maintain the 2.2 update because that is what your phone defaults to.

Wipe the phone whenever you want, but remember, this will erase your number from it, so you won't be able to use it. Best to wipe it right before or after you do the switch

You don't even have to call Verizon.

Perform the Factory Reset as advised above, then format the memory card.

Then go to verizonwireless.com and sign up for a free account, if you don't already have one. Open up the view that shows shich lines are on your account and select your daughter's line. Then click on the "Activate My Phone" quick link and follow the instructions to swap the phone to your daughters line. Repeat to switch your daughter's old phone to your line.

Or you could just dial* 228 and press option 3 from the phone to switch you may have to do it with the old phone first then the droid
