How to delete reappearing mp3 files from internal storage. All my music is on external storage, but there appears to be sporadic files on internal (1gb). I delete them through the setting, storage and they disappear. But when I turn the phone off and then on, the same files reappear. I've looked for them with a PC, but can't find them to try and delete them than way. The attached screenshots are the only way I have found them.

What directory are they showing up in, and what are some example filenames? They could be related to ad networks that an app you installed is using.

Thanks B.Diddy. I attached the screenshot to my original post as a post reply was not showing. After I did post then this reply spot appeared. I can't find them using a PC I only know they are there. My music file on external is 13 gb. So the one on internal is a really reduced down, but all artist are there.

If you tap or long-press on one of those unfamiliar music files, can you find out what directory they're located in?

BDiddy, the files show the folder in external storage. If I unmount the drive, the files disappear from the screen but still show the same used storage. I'm starting to think the 1gb of internal storage are an app's short cuts to the 45gb on the external drive

But what's the name of the folder? Just trying to see if that can help us figure out which app is responsible.

Long press on song file and requesting info shows only limited info (see screenshot)

I got the below file path nfo by playing the song from the internal storage screen shown above not by using the player and going into edit. All the files paths end up in the "Music" folder just as they are on the external storage.

storagee/D767-5A26/Music/Country/

storage/D767-5A26/Music/All rock & New wave

storage/D767-5A26/Music/Sarah Brightman

What music app are you using? It might be caching music on internal storage as it plays.

Settled on Poweramp, but also have BlackPlayer ex are instailed. Three others were deleted 3 weeks ago.

Ok, so when you see the music storage building up in Internal Storage, try clearing the cache for Poweramp, and see if it drops back down again.

Have done that before and just now with no effect. I also deleted BlackPlayer ex a few minutes ago with no effect. All songs even if not played show in internal.

Did you force stop Black Player, clear its cache and clear its data prior to uninstalling it?

Which phone is this? Is the SD card formatted as Internal Storage or Portable Storage (if that was an option in the first place)?

Can you show us the full Settings>Storage screen, so that we can confirm the card is formatted as Portable? Moto is notorious for wonky implementation of Adoptable Storage, which is why I'm pursuing this. Make sure you scroll down on that menu screen to show us all the info.

Also, can you try using a different file manager app to look through Internal Storage for that music directory? Try either Files by Google or Total Commander (both free and ad-free).

Here are some screens. There is no more info at bottom. I have used 4 different file managers including the ones suggested and gave had no luck.
On the dark screenshot, it shows internal and Android storage the Android is the external SD.

Definitely formatted as Portable Storage. Scratching my head here.:-\ I wonder if the 1 GB represents embedded album art that has to be on Internal Storage?
