MP3 Playlist Question...

Using the Manage Content function in the Wearables app, I transferred an album with tracks and a playlist over to the watch and I can view the album and tracks in the Library by Artists, Albums and Tracks - as I should be able to. However, the Playlist view in the Library seems to just list all the tracks, not the "playlist". The album plays in the proper order according to the playlist.

I transferred another album, with it's playlist specifying the proper order, and again, the Playlist view in the Library just lists all tracks - no playlists. Interestingly, the title at the top of the Playlist view says "4 Playlists" - but they are nowhere to be found in the list below - only tracks. This second album does not play in the order specified in the playlist.

So there are two questions:

Anyone know how the watch handles playlists and why the Playlist view doesn't list playlist files?

Also, why would one album play in the proper order (per playlist) and the second album doesn't?

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried a 3rd party medial player app?

Sorry, I don't use this function on my watches, but on my phone, if the default does not work the way I like, I look for a 3rd party alternative.

Good idea - I'll probably do that.

But I wanted to know if I was missing something here! Not a lot of people download mp3's anymore, so I am not sure I'll get any ideas for fixes other than to go to another app.

After taking a moment to look at available apps, there's not much out there that's highly-rated.

Using the YouTube Music app for this kind of thing is a bit indirect/inconvenient as I found out today.

Took another look at this today. From what I can tell as of now...

- Playlists transferred to the GW4 do not manage track sequence - I can't see any purpose they serve as of now
- Playlists can be added to GW4, but not deleted
- Track sequence within a folder is determined alphabetically by "Title" (not track name)
- When transferring mp3's from the phone to watch using the Wearables app, selection of tracks can only be done at the track level - not the folder/album level

So, if you are like me and use mp3's stored on the watch, the "Manage Content" function in the Wearables app works, but it's a bit of a PIA if you want to move a lot of mp3's over to the watch due to track selection weirdness. Also, b/c of the alpha sort of tracks, you need to make sure your track "Titles" are either in alpha order or you need to number them in sequence - another PIA.

I wanted to share what I've learned as of now, in the event it helps somebody else. Please chime in if I've got any of this wrong - would be great to hear that it's easier than it seems to me! Hopefully, future releases will address the playlist and track selection issues.
