The app has gotten progressively crappier over the year and the latest version is trying to take over messaging and phone. Can anyone recommend a good replacement that works like it used to?

Well actually I'm hoping for something by someone who is using the app themselves and can tell me if it is good. I know how to google. Thanks for posting, I appreciate the response. I'll read through the thread and see if any of them will work for me...

Is it just me or does it seem that Virgin Mobile numbers get more spam calls than other services? I've had this number almost five or six years now and I still get calls for a Jessica Roach (Roche?) who evidentially has all sorts of unpaid bills and irate ex boyfriends. Some of the calls I get...

What I liked about Mr Number before was it could detect numbers on a blocklist and allow users to submit reports of numbers so suspected spam could be blocked automatically with a pick up and hang up. They also used to have the ability to submit numbers and do an caller id check. The application even was able to add numbers to my contacts if I so desired. It was a good app.

Now they no longer have a good caller id lookup, have stopped being able to automatically add to my contacts and are trying to set themselves as default messaging and default dialer applications. It's annoying and broken.

i believe VM doesnt get fresh numbers, they assign sprints expired numbers or unpaid account numbers.

although i havent gotten a spam call on a VM number since like 2004, when they had the flip phones and pay per minute plans.

looking into what Mr. Number is, i see how you could use it.

in all honesty though, changing your vm number might have more of an effect than an app like this.

on a slightly related note, its funny how we think these numbers are so personal but really just get circulated like money. my car, bought used at a dealer, had a license plate number that was from someone very shady, and the first week of owning the car got me more problems with police than i ever wanted to have. had to get a custom plate.

If you are running CM7 variant there is a native built in call block list. I know your looking to be able to report numbers easily too. I think you can just long press the number in the call log and add it to the reject list. Same with texts.

And this reject list gets synced somewhere so everyone can benefit from it? If so, awesome! It'd be like an adblock for the phone!

I'll look into the block list.

I think my brain was working faster than my fingers...

Its not maintained outside of your phone. That is the only benefit of Mr. Numbers.

Oh. DANG it, it's times like this I really wish I knew how to program. We need something that we can all work together on and collectively block known spammers!

Thanks anyway.

I think the only way to solve that problem is get a woman that isnt crazy...imagine how it would be if you were married.

imagine how it would be if you were married.

Why would any guy want to get married in this day and age unless he felt he had too much stuff and waned to give half of it away? I strongly urge any man thinking about marriage to give this following a read. Then prayerfully ask God if it is right to have children in a world where the state not you will be their father. Ask Him if what you're doing is really a part of his plan and not simply your hormones attacking.

It ain't worth it. It just ain't worth it.

I mean, really! What kind of "wife" or "partner" is happier when you're upset?
