Ok, mr n00b here.
Just snatched up plain jane and mr2. I have clockwork installed and my backup pro.
Don't care what I might lose at this time - just as long as bricking is not an option.
rooted stock via the autoroot from may.
Is there a step by step what to do?
Thanks!
First off, if you are rooted, then you may want to check out this guide on backing up your app data and settings before you begin:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/thu...store-apps-data-when-installing-new-roms.html
I haven't done this yet, so I'm just repeating what I've read here...someone else feel free to jump in and correct me and/or elaborate if needed.
What you want to do is download the ROM and the MR2 Radio file to your SD card. (Rename radio "PG05IMG.zip"). The ROM can be saved anywhere, the radio file should be on the root of the card.
CHECK THE MD5s OF YOUR FILES BEFORE YOU PROCEED!!!
Then, you'll want to boot into recovery, which you can do using ROM Manager if you'd like. Since I believe it's recommended to install the ROM first, THEN the radio, you want to make sure you're booting into RECOVERY and not HBOOT Bootloader.*
Clear your data and cache, wipe dalvik from Recovery, then install the ROM from your SD card. Once that is finished, before you reboot, pull the battery from the device to shut it down. Replace the battery, then boot into HBOOT (hold "Vol -" while holding power button down), and flash the new radio.
Once that is finished, you can reboot into your new ROM. Be sure to delete or move the PG05IMG radio file from the root of SD card.
*If you read the
thread for the Plain Jane ROM, you'll see that some folks have had success installing the radio in HBOOT first, then installing the ROM in recovery. Not sure which way would be easier, but do know this: As long as there is a file on the root of your SD card named "PG05IMG.zip", it WILL TRY TO INSTALL THIS EACH AND EVERY TIME YOU BOOT INTO HBOOT, EVEN IF YOU'VE ALREADY INSTALLED IT. Obviously, you don't want to install the new radio file more than one time.
