Anyone else having issues with MTP on their Maxx? My Gnex works fine on my Win7 laptop but The Maxx MTP driver install fails.

Looks like that doesn't create a Motorola Shared folder on my machine. The install finishes, not sure.

Do you happen to have the .inf file you could share? I have no idea why it isn't extracting for me even though it appears everything is working.

Do you happen to have the .inf file you could share?

I can check when I am at home. Make sure to look in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Motorola Shared\Mobile Drivers\Drivers folder. Also, the key is this part:

"Once that is done, plug in the phone, then go to Device Manager and look for the device called Motorola ADB Interface. (If you don't see it, turn on USB Debugging on your phone and then reconnect it.) Right-click and select Update Driver Software.

Select Browse my computer for driver software, then Let me pick from a list.

Select All Devices, then Have Disk. Point to either of these locations to find the driver."

Ok, I'm an *****. I found the folder but there are a lot of .inf files in there. I don't see in the instructions which one to pick. Does it matter?

If I remember correctly, dont you just select the directory and then "For Manufacturer, select Motorola, then for Model select Mot Composite ADB Interface. You will see an error that Windows cannot verify that the driver is compatible with the hardware. Continue installing the driver and it will be successful"? I don't remember having to explicitly select an inf file.

Follow the directions to a "T". I screwed up a few times and even reached out to Motorola support.

When I get to the Driver folder my only option is to select "open" which then opens the folder to the 10 or so .inf files where I have to choose one. I've tried a bunch but my device never shows up for MTP connection.

Ill try my step by step:

  1. D/L this: http://download.clockworkmod.com/drivers/MotoHelper_2.1.32_Driver_5.4.0.exe
  2. Don't Install it! Extract it, then install the 32 or 32 bit version under \MotoHelper_2.1.32_Driver_5.4.0\$TEMP\
  3. Plug in the phone. It will tell you no driver found for "Motorola ADB Interface:.
  4. Go to Device manager, find "Other Devices" --> Motorola ADB Interface. Right click and select "Update Driver"
  5. Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
  6. Select "Let me pick from a list..."
  7. Select "Show all devices" on top.
  8. Select "Motorola" and "Mot Composite ADB Interface".
  9. Click "Have Disk"
  10. Navigate to the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Motorola Shared\Mobile Drivers\Drivers" folder. I believe you can select any file. Then click "OK".
  11. Select "Motorola" and "Mot Composite ADB Interface".
  12. Click Next
  13. Press "Yes" on the warning

Should be good to go! I hope!

I appreciate the help. That was exactly what I did. Not sure why it isn't working. It looks ok in device manager just never get the MTP device to show up.

Ok, very weird. I got it working by turning the Software Installation option off. No idea what that would have to do with. Again, thank you very much for your help. I really appreciate it.

the MTP issue is weird because MTP was working for me by just plugging in the phone, but ADB required the steps mentioned above

Just go my new Droid Maxx and cannot get the MTP drivers to install. I've tried rebooting, removing old drivers and clean install, also switched usb ports as someone else suggested and even a new cable another suggestion but nothing seems to work. This is so frustrating no being able to add music/photos and such to my phone, what a drag.:-\:-\
