Mugen 1950mAh Slim Extended Battery for HTC Rezound

Another problem I've had with the Mugen 1900 mAh battery is that when it got to 10% capacity, instead of giving the low battery notification that you get with the OEM battery, the phone just shuts off. But then when I plug the charger in and get it to boot a minute later, the Battery Circle widget showed the battery percent to be at 4 %m. Wierd.

In have seen no evidence that this is necessary. Is there some study or authoritative source that can confirm this? I've never read a phone's manual where it instructs the user to "condition " a battery first before getting proper battery capacity. (and yes I am aware that Mugen says to do this on the package of the battery, but I still don't think that is necessary. Funny enough, the Mugen package also says their battery does not have a "memory effect", which implies that conditioning is NOT necessary. For if the battery has to be charged and discharged several times to achieve the stated capacity, then that, in and of itself, is a "memory effect".)

I have not research but only heard that a battery needs conditioned. Time to start researching. However I know NICaD batteries developed a memory off of charge patterns maybe newer technology has its fails too?

A couple of u mentioned heat and battery life issues. As a former tbolt user, the resound is hot and that battery life is garbage. This is normal?

When I received my battery it had an insert that said it should charge 8-12 hours initially on the standard plug even if it shows full. They the phone should be run low...not ever to zero and then this cycle repeated 5-6 times. Also suggested doing this once every two weeks. Not sure if this is needed, but if the manufacturer says to do it.......

Yesterday, I pulled mine off the charger at 7:30AM, turned it off 90 minutes later for a 90 minutes flight and then had it on using moderately during the day. Finally flashed a warning just below 10% at 12:10am. I never could get this far with the standard battery.....maybe 7:30PM if lucky. Did keep the phone on 3G all day.

I had a T-bolt, its base battery was just as bad if not worse and it would get hot. I have not noticed the heat with the rezound but I have only had it a few days. Battery is so so. I am going to run a streaming day test for a few days to see what comes of it.

If this is actually necessary to get the battery to give an extra 15% compared to the standard OEM battery, then count me out. How utterly annoying to have to do this every two weeks.

The next Mugen battery will come with instructions saying you have to charge the battery initially for 36 hours, and repeat on the third Sundays of each month while standing on one foot, but never with a full moon.

I'm not going to go find the box but my Mugen battery came a little note saying you won't get its full benefit until you have gone through a few cycles. It was short and sweet. This is something I have experienced in the past... With this Mugen battery, I think I actually noticed a difference after it had a few charges under its belt.

I gotta find the link to this great site about batteries... I got it on one of these forums... it really cleared things up...

After almost a week I have noticed an increase in my battery life from the base battery.. I will give a harder test starting monday for a few days.

As a rule of thumb though Lihtium batteries do not have or develope memories like a Ni-Cad battery. As long as you charge it for several hours when you first get it and do not discharge it fully you should be ok. Fully dischargina Li-Ion will have a more dramatic affect than a Ni-Cad. Also heat affects Li-Ion batteries worse. IF you bought the phone and have let it sit in the sun or hot car, etc., etc you could have damaged the battery upon initial use. Thinking this through I guess it is possible a phone you buy may have been subjected to higher heat and thus cooked the battery reducing its capacity. I cannot find anything that gives exact measure ments or tests on the affect of heat and how much it affects the battery.
