Change Default Gmail accounts? or Calendar?

When I had set up Android Market the phone of course required a Gmail account. I used one that I have but isn't frequently used for email - but it has a rich profile and lots of Google services (YouTube, Checkout, Voice, etc.) attached to it.

My main email account is a Google Apps account on my own .com domain. I successfully set that account up on the phone.

Problems are that the phone will only use the old Gmail account as the default Google account for the phone and will not allow me to swap accounts or delete the Gmail account without a hard reset.

My Google Apps personal domain account is where I use my Google Calendar, but the phone won't recognize the calendar from that account...it only goes to the calendar for the old Gmail account.

However, is there a way to get the phone to use my Google Apps account as my default "gmail" account? (It worked as a "Google" account)

On a more global scale, I guess I have a lot of things attached to my older gmail account (Google Profile, Checkout, YouTube, etc. etc.)...so is there a good strategy for managing this or should I just keep both Google account on the phone? Is there a practical way to migrate all my old Google services over to my private domain Google Apps account or...should I do a hard reset, put the private account into the phone first and the old gmail in 2nd?

Note that I tried the "Manage Application" and "Clear Data" for Gmail, Gmail Storage...but that didn't seem to work. I don't know if I found complete directions for that route.

Thanks

google account

I'm researching a possible move from BB to android. Do you have to have a google account to use an android phone? I can't switch my two email addresses. One is work email address the other is home.

gmail

So I set up a gmail account first. Do i have to use that account? or just set the phone up through it and continue to use my office email address and my home email address just like i've been doing?
I can't change my email addresses b/c of my business address already in use.
If i can't keep my original email addresses this appears to be a dealbreaker for me keeping me from switching to Android from BB.

No you do not need to use gmail, it's just part of the activation. I have my work and personal accounts on my phone. Just watch your settings due to "low memory" issues. I have the Incredible, and love it. I came from the Storm, never had any problems, just wanted something new, no going back! (For now)
