multiple Issues with the Nexus 6p.

So i decided to switch from apple to Android 2 weeks ago, November 26. I went and picked up my Nexus 6p, thinking it would be an awesome phone. I had already ordered a new google C-C cable online, tempered glass, a new 5V3A car charger and a Spigen case for it.
The first issue i noticed is when i would talk on the phone i would always cut out and the person on the other end couldnt hear me for anywhere between 10 seconds-20 seconds, and sometimes they could even hear themselves talk. The second issue i had was when i received my tempered glass screen protector in the mail, I noticed the bottom 2 corners, no matter what i do will not stick on. Amazon having an awesome return policy, i sent it back and ordered a different brand, I get the second one in the mail and it has the exact same issue. At this point im slightly frustrated, but all new phones have issues. I go into Best buy where i originally got it, got a DOA (Dead on arrival) exchange, and was now excited to use this hopefully none glitchy phone. I set it up again, get on a call and what do you know the mic is still messed up. I try the screen protector wont stick to the bottom corners, and now this one the headphone port doesnt work. Does anyone have any fixes to any of these issues? I was hoping someone could shed some light on this, and keep me from switching back to apple; as this is not a good first impression for an android. I really like the feel of this phone but i cant keep dealing with new issues like this, it gets quite frustrating.
Thanks guys.

There is a small microphone port located about 1" above the fingerprint scanner - this microphone is used to register background noise so that the in-call noise cancellation processor can separate your voice from background noise. It has been widely reported that if this microphone is covered up (by a finger or by resting the phone on your shoulder), it will interfere with normal telephone calls.

I have seen other complaints about glass screen protector adherence; frankly, I don't see the need for screen protectors and haven't used one since the advent of modern Gorilla Glass screens.

Welcome to Android Central! Good advice from N4Newbie. Can you describe the headphone issue in more detail? Does any sound come over the headphones? Have you tried different headphones? Made sure the jack is clear of any debris?

The screen protector issue is, of course, not an Android issue per se, but probably has more to do with the design of the screen protector.

The mic isnt covered by the case, and i usually only talk on speaker. Ive read in some places that covering that mic actually helps and some say if it is covered it wont work. I have covered and uncovered and i still seem to have the issue either way.
As for the headphone jack, i have only tried 2 pairs of headphones but neither seem to work at all, but they bot worked with my last Nexus 6P. I do not hear any noise from the headphones when i plug them in, it all comes out of the phones speakers.
Going to go back to the store tonight to see i can DOA again. Hopefully the third time is a charm!

You bought a 6P at Best Buy? I didn't even know they sold them anywhere but on the Google Store.

Before you jump on the OP calling him/her a troll, I believe the Nexus devices ARE available at Best Buy in Canada.

That said, I haven't seen either issue as I primarily use a bluetooth headset for phone calls and didn't get a screen protector for my phone. I DO recall seeing others that had trouble getting the bottom corners to stick though.

I can confirm. Nexus 6p is available to buy at best buy in Canada. You can also buy it from carriers in canada.

I live in Ontario, Canada this is not a troll post. Just looking for help from some experienced android users haha.

Hey buddy,

I understand your frustrations I had the same frustrations as you based on call quality you can see a thread I started about it.

Their is an issue currently with the nexus 6p and call quality. On the Google product forums their is a big thread with complaints from buyers around the world regarding the same call quality issue as you explained. The device definitely has a problem. Whether it is a software or hardware issue is still unknown.

Just to warn you last time I tried a thread like this I started getting attacked by users who had 0 intentions in actually helping me out or did not even believe I had an issue with the device. I swapped my device 3 times at best buy here in Canada. I ended up selling the device for a loss and bought a Galaxy edge +

If you bought it on contract via bestbuy in Canada make sure you do not go over 30 minute talk time. If you do they will refuse to return or exchange the device to a different model.

I wonder if Best Buy got a bad batch or something. That really sucks, especially since it's such a great phone but is obviously giving you a bad first impression. Hope the 3rd time works for you. Personally I've had 0 issues. Ordered 5 minutes after it went on sale on the Play Store. Good luck.

I would bring it back and return it. Then go to a different Best Buy if possible. The mute issue has been experienced by other users too. You can always try a factory reset to see if it helps but it might not.

Yes some other users have reported the mute issue. I had it happen to myself once too, but it happened to me because I hit the mute button on the screen with my cheek before the proximity sensor turned the screen off lol. Otherwise no issues.

The tempered glass not sticking is an interesting one. I bought s supershieldz tempered glass (two of them because the first one covered the proximity sensor) and nether of them had any issues with the bottom corners refusing to stick. Check your phone and see if it has a bend to it maybe? Not likely if you had two and they both did the same thing... But idk.

I imagine you weren't trying to use the same tempered glass on both phones too right? You got a new one when you got the new phone?

Hello and Welcome!

Sorry to hear you hare having so many problems with your 6P. I too tried to put a screen protector on my 6P and it wouldn't stay attached. I didn't like the screen anwyays and don't see the need for one personally. Just have it in a case.

Have you done a factory reset on the phone? My Lumia 920 used to do that as well with the audio port, a soft reset of the phone would fix that issue.

Definitely be careful not to go over the 30 minute talk time or the 50MB Data (if you subsidized the phone) or else you are SOL. Just out of curiosity which carrier are you with? Bell? Rogers? Telus?

All the best!

I hope this issue gets fixed with your phone!

What to do next depends on how much you want to keep your 6P. The microphone issue is a pretty wide spread issue. At this point, only Google will be able to actually help you fix it. So if you really want to keep it, don't go back to that Best Buy, as all the phones in that batch likely have the same problem. Contact Google/Nexus support and have them replace it.

If you have had enough, return it at Best Buy and get something else.

Problem with the 6P is that it is a developers product that is sold to the general public. It will have bugs and the phone owners are expected to know this and to have a higher then average Technical ability to work with Google to resolve them. As well as patience. I know some will disagree here, but this is true and so is the fact that this might not be the phone for people coming from iPhones with a more dependable retail oriented product. At least compared to a developers oriented product.
