Multiple Launchers Running?

So I'm new to Android and have a question about launchers. If I install Nova Launcher, but run TouchWiz, will they both be running at once? Or would Nova only run when you switch to it? Specifically wondering for performance reasons, as I'm experiencing some choppiness navigating menus and such.

No, both launchers don't run at once. If you start Nova Launcher, TouchWiz should pause or close out of active RAM.

Awesome. Thanks. I actually like Touchwiz just fine. I just hate the choppiness. And I hate spending almost a grand on a phone that is having such issues. Know of any common ways to improve it?

Define the choppiness you're talking about. Nova can help with the Home screen and the drawer but not the overall device. Just the Launcher.
