Multitasking

Hi.
I could not find any help on google, so maybe someone here could help me with this tiny issue.

I am supposed to turn on/off multitasking when I press and hold the backbutton, but nothing happens.
I can't find any settings for that.

I have the newer version of note 2 with 4G (N7105).
Is the 4.3 update the problem?

I love the multitasking, but I don't like the knob I get on the side. So it would be great if I could hold the backbutton instead of dragging down the statusbar.
