ok this might be totally stupid question but it still sort of bugs me and i cant figure out a solution:

I have my music on google's Play Music app (the one with the gold colored headphones) and stored some of the playlists directly on the device. so far so good. what i don't understand is that if the music is stored on the device, why is the "regular" music app (the one with the red colored headphones) not finding any of the songs?

what am i missing?

Is it possible that you are storing just the playlist, and not the music itself? Just a thought, I don't use Google play music personally but I understand that it is mostly handled through a cloud.

you have two options in google play music, one is streaming your library/songs to your device and two to store music on the device (which is what i do to save on data). I had to download the songs over wifi and have the data manager to prove that I did so (a couple of GB's were used doing that).

so since the music IS on the device it just beats me why the regular music app would not pick up the songs.

I too know nothing about this service or app. But my first thought is, how is the music being stored? If mp3, then I'd agree, it should show up, however if it's in some sort of proprietary format, then it might not be recognized as "music".
