Music keeps randomly pausing

So annoying. Ugh... I'm basically just living with it now.
Have you tried enabling audio troubleshooting under Voice in the Moto app?

Where in the world did that option come from? Haha. I've been through every menu and never saw it. Gonna see if it helps.

I haven't gotten a chance to see if it helps with Spotify/Google play music, but it's definitely not helping with Howl, the podcast app :-( ... I'm gonna write their support though because it's a buggy app to begin with. And I'll try to get a chance to test with music music soon.

Well I got good news and bad news.

The good news is my bluetooth issues and music pausing issues seem to be done for good!

The bad news is it's not the Moto X Pure that's fixed, because I used my T-Mobile Jump plan to jump from my old Note 4 that was just sitting there gathering dust to a new Galaxy S7 Edge, and it has had zero problems so far.

Now granted the whole reason I jumped ship after a Galaxy S3, Note 3, and Note 4 over the course of 5 years is because I attributed all my Android related problems to Samsung and I wanted a stock Android experience thinking it would make things better. And certainly for the first 4 or 5 months it did. But especially since the Marshmallow update (and after doing a full System Restore to make sure it wasn't just some rogue app), I can say that while I defended the Moto X Pure against the Note 4 and even the Note 5 (which my girlfriend has and doesn't run as smoothly as my Moto X Pure did pre-Marshmallow)... Samsung really seems to have turned things around with the S7 Edge... Granted it's only been 2 weeks, so I gotta give things time to get bogged down haha... But at least as far as my Bluetooth / Music issues were concerned... Absolutely no problems on the S7 Edge.

Doesn't mean I wouldn't consider going back to Motorola in the future. I really loved my Moto X Pure (I still have it... haven't decided what I'm gonna do with it... but I'm not really someone who jumps back and forth between phones). But definitely the Bluetooth Audio issues that me and a bunch of other people were having are due to the device.

Does iHeartradio stop loading, or keeps stopping on you, or freezing up? If your memory is full DO NOT UNINSTALL! Your phone might force you to clear other apps before allowing you to reinstall, and that process is mostly unnecessary anyway. Simply go to your SETTINGS app, then go to APPS within SETTINGS, click the iHeartradio icon and clear the iHeartradio CACHE and FORCE STOP. You should not have to clear out your iHeartradio data unless this does not work. After CLEARING YOUR CACHE and FORCE STOPPING, then restart your phone. Open the app and sign back up. Your original data settings will still be there unless you have cleared out your data.

Re: Music keeps randomly pausing- turn off battery optimization

I have this same problem with the KCRW app on my phone. It will stop and require me to restart it and then it repeats/loops the same music that was playing when i was listening before. REALLY annoying. Now it works perfect if i access that same station using FF..

This may not be the solution for everybody, but I too went searching the web for keywords 'pausing' 'music' 'video' 'android' and found my offender via this thread. I have Samsung Galaxy S5, with all of these pausing randomly - Music Player, Video Player, YouTube App. I ran the "System Monitor" app suggested earlier in this post (thanks Shimon Mor). Scroll across to the tab showing 'Top Apps' and ensure it is sorting by CPU. I found that RockMyRun was up there when the music paused. I removed this app and have now been running music and videos continuously with no more pausing.:)

Ive noticed that music will skip & even stop if im using apps regardless of denying the app permissions and removing battery saver. What i have found is that if i use chrome to playback or stream live music over internet stations it works nicely. Yeah its a bit of a hassle but @ least it works..for now..

Interesting thread. I use the Amazon Music app and that too suffers from music randomly pausing on my MotoG 3rd Gen. Not that I ever have to hit play, it just carries on again after a few seconds of no music output. So annoying. The strange bit is this is with music that I've downloaded and is stored on the phone.

I even have Amazon Music barred from using the data connection in the permissions (Wifi only for downloads). So why/how has it downloaded 1.92 MB over the last 3 days using the data connection! And the pausing occurs where I would expect to lose the phone signal round these parts. Sure enough I've found that turning off the data connection (still leaving the phone on though) results in no pausing at all. Something tells me that something is naff with either the app or Android itself.

Man! Everything you've said is exactly my problem on my 2 month old LG V20, unlocked. I am seriously thinking of switching to Apple,I can't take these glitches any more. I'll be trying to show my band a song during rehearsal and I can't even play a (SD file) song or stream a song without repeated pauses every 5 seconds. And then tonight it started happening while trying to watch a video on a news website! What the hey is up with Android now? And I blamed my Samsung S5 last year for similar problems! Now I know it's Android!
If anyone has a solution I'd appreciate, otherwise in trading in for Apple soon as a deal comes up.

Hi everyone

After couple of months with pain i think i have found the solution for this issue.

This problem is occured because of the conflicting apps.So we need to look for it

1-Find an task manager app for killing background working apps.

2-Start listening music and be patient for first pause (listening app should support background playing)

3-Whenever music stops go to task manager and unselect all of the apps listed

4-Start killing apps one by one until the music starts.(Except music app)

5-Whenever you find the conflicting app you need to remove it for permanent fix.

Using file mgr I found that my blocker app was messing with radio station app stream playback so i removed it since N has one built in so ill just suffer for a short time w/o it. Thing was it was fine for about an hour and then it started skipping again.

Then yesterday while i was listening to the same radio app and just dealing with the skipping i plugged my phone into my PC @ work to charge it. When the charge notification lit up i went and drew down the USB menu and instead of USB charge i chose USB MIDI. Once i did this yesterday i havent had any playback skipping @ all. So looked up what MIDI is and according to the linked article i found it allows the phone to be a USB host/hub for audio files and used for the interface between the phone and a musical instrument.

android central article on MIDI

How to activate MIDI as your default USB connection (not sure how this impacts transfer of pics and files though..

I have the same problem. I was going to factory reset soon hoping that would fix it.

Posted via the Android Central App

I did a factory reset, i also do a manual boot to reset kernels and it still happens, I went to best buy because they have tier 1 help that should be able to refresh the 6.0.1 os but after waiting an hour the guy said he couldn't help because its a note 4 and cant be updated anymore. Samsung refuses to admit that its a problem and everyone i spoke to said they never heard of this happening

This is happening to me. Please help. It keeps pausing randomly and again resumes. And sometimes My Google ay music app from my notification app disappear so I sometimes don't get the option to play it sometimes. Please Help Me In this Situation. I am A Music Lover.🙇🙇🙏🙏🙏

Been having the same problem on my Moto Z2 Play since I got it. In my case when streaming Iheart radio over WiFi to my Bluetooth headphones I experience random cutting in and out that can get really frequent even with full strength WiFi. However, playing over my speaker mod instead of Bluetooth is no problem. Similarly, streaming to the same headphones over Bluetooth through my Samsung tablet again no problem. Suspected a Bluetooth radio problem on my Moto Z. However, I did an all app reset and the problem seemed to go away. After walking out to my mailbox my phone switched from WiFi to Cell data and then back to WiFi when in range and then the problem returned. I then uninstalled the Iheart app and reinstalled rather than resetting all my apps and it appears to be fine again.

I have not tried this with other apps like Pandora but can't help but think it is a Bluetooth radio issue that corrupts the app.

Anyone with more experience have any thoughts?

I have one radio app that doesnt seem to be as stable as the other radio apps i have on my phone. I have ended up accessing that radio station using a browser instead. Not sure if thats an option for you or not I know its a bit more of a pain and all but it does work..
