Music no longer multi-taskable on OTA 2.2?

Note when I said multi-taskable, I mean having any other sounds play overtop.

Here's the situation:

Say I'm listening to Pandora and using Google Maps Navigation. On 2.1, the music muted while Google Maps talked to me. Now the music pauses, and will not resume until you specifically go into the app and resume it.

For anyone who does this in the car (as I imagine MANY do), this essentially makes Pandora impossible to use with the GPS talking. With it forcing you to resume playback after every prompt, it's extremely distracting and annoying.

If that's the case I'm sure they'll get enough complaints to get a fix sooner rather than later.

I have a suspicion it won't get fixed. I think it has to do with Froyo in general, as it happened on Cyanogen's CM6 RC1 as well. I hope it does get fixed though, this is ridiculous.

Wow, stuff like this makes me want to roll back to 2.1. I hope a update goes out to fix that. I thought that was so cool that it did that... :|

crap. That's what I loved about my phone, was that I could hear the important stuff from the navigation software and would just flip back to the music when it was finished.

hopefully this will get fixed soon!

Nope, my 2.2 stock Android music app can continue to play after a phone call is over. I guess it is Pandora only.

I didn't say phone call, I said Google Maps Navigation. And I literally just tried it. The stock music app will not resume when interrupted by Google Maps Navigation.

Doesn't affect Slacker Radio. Seems like a good reason for those of you who use Pandora to try out Slacker. Slacker allows you to pick the songs that play on a station if you choose. I personally don't like how Pandora plays a lot of songs that I haven't added to a station. You can also make Slacker more like Pandora by turning artists discovery on, but in that aspect it isn't as good as Pandora.

If it's only affecting pandora...wouldn't that mean pandora could update to fix??
I haven't used pandora and nav together yet...but I love pandora and if I ever had to it would be cool to have them work together as before!

As a beginning dev myself with two apps, Google changed the media stuff in Froyo (for the worst some say), so this stuff is bound to happen till the devs update their apps.

Yeah i think this is a pandora issue. Im using Meridian media player while using google navigation and my music (mp3s) mute while its giving me directions and resumes just fine.

It has to be more than just Pandora since the stock player is also affected. Although it's interesting how it's only some, not all.

Then probably both players need to be fixed. Seems like a sound API change.

This sounds slightly unique to each person, I found;

Google Navigation will pause both the stock player and pandora without resuming the music.

However, Sprint Navigation will pause both the stock player and pandora, but will resume the music. Looks like I'm stuck using Sprint Navigation until they fix whatever is broken :(

Can someone try this for me. It is very important to know if it will still work when I upgrade. I listen to music through HTC Music App. When I get a text message on my phone I hear the beep but my music will continue to play. Will it still continue to play in Froyo?

This issue appears to be primarily between Pandora, the HTC Music app, & Google Navigation. If you don't use Google Navigation, you probably won't experience this problem.

Also, as far as listening to music and getting test message notifications with Froyo (2.2), I was doing this quite regularly last night and the music would just keep playing after the notification sound.

did anyone figure out a solution to this? I'm having the exact same issue on the Incredible and it's extremely frustrating.
