Music Player app strange behavior in Shuffle mode

Hi everyone,

I've tried several music players in the past few weeks, but none that convinced me to switch for good, especially considering that most of them would put the track on hold after about one minute when I was using my Bluetooth headset, so I'm still using your basic Music Player, the one that comes with Android, and I've noted a strange behavior when in Shuffle mode: some songs will get played several times, others will go completely ignored, like the app is drunk or something.

In iOS, I was used to Shuffle playing songs in whatever order it saw fit, but at least all the songs in the same folder (Hell, ALL my songs, if I so wanted) would get a chance to be heard.

Not so here. I did a little experiment this afternoon with an Angra album that contains only 8 songs, and two of them went completely ignored by the Player, while one was played three times...

Of course, I could play my songs in sequence instead of randomly, but I like a good surprise here and there, and Shuffle does (well, should do) that.

I use Media Monkey and I do not experiance any of the issues you describe.

I haven't tried this one yet. I'll let you know how it goes, but it's driving me nuts. This morning alone, on a collection of Ting Tings tunes, I got the same song playing four times with me moving up the tracks on my BT earphones, and some songs going completely ignored for a full hour, until I gave up.

I'm starting to miss iOS...

So far, I like it, but I have a silly question: are those music players born of original code (as in, they're all different), or are they built on top of the Android Music Player foundations, as "simple" UI makeovers?

The way they're all organized makes me wonder. Not that it would be a bad thing, because sound-wise, the Android Music Player isn't half-bad.

Not as good as its iOS equivalent, but then, it depends of the DSP installed on the hardware too.

I cannot answer that as I have no idea. As for iPhone vs Android on this subject, remember that the iPhone was originally built on top of an iPod! (iPod -> iPod Touch -> iPhone)

You're right about the iPhone and its hardware foundations being the first-gen iPod when it comes to sound. Apple has always placed the accent on high-quality sound and image in its products, the downside being their price, and the fact that their OS is closed-source and very restrictive in terms of what the end-user can or cannot do...
