Music Player Crash

Hi, folks,

Today I added a lot of music to my Captivate (about 10GB) and I did this by just mounting the device and copying files over.

The files get there and after the scan runs, I can open the music player.

The "All" and "Albums" tabs work, but when I go to the "Artists" tab, the music player exits and I get the error "not enough space in music database" shown at the top of the screen.

Does anyone know why this error occurs or, more importantly, how to get around it?

Thanks!

That's odd. I would try to use a program designed to sync music over and see if that helps you out with the artist's problem, it may fix the other problem, too. I have/use DoubleTwist, its slow, but works as advertised (free, too).

Maybe there's not enough filespace left for the artist database to be created? That's what the error would seem to be suggesting.

Thanks. I've tried DoubleTwist, iSyncr and TuneSync (the light versions of the latter two). I think I'll end up buying TuneSync because it seems to do everything and still uses iTunes. But I want to do more research so I haven't pulled the trigger yet. In the mean time, I thought I'd just copy stuff over since that appears to be what most people do.

That was my thinking as well, so I removed a bunch of songs and now have approx 2GB free. I thought that would be enough but no joy.

BTW, as part of this I downloaded the 3 (aka "Cubed") music player and it has no issues (and is really awesome to boot).

Still, I'd like the default player to work.

I have this problem too. I havn't figured out how to fix it. Only added about 8gb of music to my internal SD and still have my entire 16gb external SD free. I really like the default music player too...

Oh well.

Yeah, just don't get it. Hope someone smarter than me has a fix soon.

Seriously, try out Cubed. It's fun and cool and ... works! :) But I bet there are also some other great players.

i have around 7 GB of music but its all saved to my SD card and i dont have this problem

Seems to have fixed itself... All I did today was transfer some files back and forth since I was testing out psx4droid. Who knows.

I removed a bunch of music and it went away, added it back and it's back. I'm not sure if it's the amount of music or particular files or something else.
