sorry for starting a new thread for this but did not see anyway to add it to a current thread. My question- Is there a way to turn off the music player instead of just pausing it? I think I have tried everything but just dont see anything. Thanks.

Pausing is it, when you run 5 other apps the music player terminates. Android's OS keeps apps spooled until enough other apps have launched that they terminate to free memory up.

On a Droid this is no big deal because it has enough memory, the Eris and Hero users though are screwed by this design.

This is such a terrible design imo and should be fixed. I hate the fact that you just can't close many applications without a 3 step proceedure. One of the few things that annoy me.

The Android OS is designed to manage memory itself. You are not supposed to manually close those apps the system will do it for you when they are not in use but if it doesn't install Advanced Task Manager but use it judiciously. The more you fight the system the less it works.

That's the price to pay for having OCD. No need to close out apps on Android unless they're misbehaving.
