Mute/pause motion not working

The "cover screen with hand" option to mute incoming calls and alarms and pause media does not seem to be working. Turning over the screen works, but not hand motion. I'm getting so frustrated!! Does anyone else have this issue??? All of my air browse gestures work, I would think that this feature would work too since it uses the same sensor.

Are you hovering your hand above the screen or actually touching the screen with your palm? I found I had to actually make contact with the screen for it to work for me when playing back a video. Haven't tried the alarm/call silencing feature.

I was hovering my hand over the screen, but I just tried actually touching the screen like you said and it worked. Thanks!

This isn't working for me I was playing music and I actually touched the screen and it still wouldn't mute/pause but I'll try again
