does anyone know how to fix the activate button. Its in the app drawer. Everytime i click it, it just doesnt do anything. Ever since i went back to stock version my activate button hasnt worked. Thanks

What does it do? Is it literally to activate your phone on the network? If so, that's something you only do once.

Try doing a full wipe, and reinstall. That means:

Wipe data
Wipe cache partition
Advanced -> Wipe dalvik cache
Mounts and Storage -> Format boot and system

Install a known working rom like aphrodite or rodimus. You should be able to launch the activate app after that.

Actually, no.

Androids have a habit of losing their provisioning.
Also, if you flash a rom, like an S rom or a bad flash, it can knock out your 3g and in some cases, the only fix is the activation app.

yes my 3g stopped working so i need the activate button. I had AOSP cm 7 flashed on the phone but im back to stock now so i dnot want to flash anymore roms unless they are stock roms with stock recovery but i need my ACTIVATE BUTTON back damnit lol

Is the Activate app the same as being led through the charade by VM customer service of pulling the battery and then if that doesn't work, clearing the MDN/MSID and reentering it upon reboot?

It normally does not 'break' activation when you go from one rom to another. Not sure why your didn't stay 'active' when you went back to stock. The only time my activation broke was when I switched numbers.

Did you only switch roms (from stock to CM7 back to stock) while keeping the same number?

It broke because he flashed all sorts of stuff to his phone including S roms. Follow my directions for wiping to have a clean install of the stock rom. Then you'll be able to run the acttivate app and then you can flash back to CM7 either using a backup or what I would suggest, a new clean install.

mmarz i was trying to not flash anything else bc im already back running a stock rom and stock recovery, im also non rooted. Just be all that work again lol.

Well, if the activate button is not working, then something went wrong with your install of the stock rom. You have two options.

Safe Option:
Re-root your phone. Install a custom recovery. Wipe everything. Then follow the instructions again to get back to the stock rom or install a custom Froyo rom if that is what you ultimately want to do. Then run the activation app.

Risky Option:
Since you are on the stock rom with the stock recovery, you can try the built in factory reset, the one that got you into this mess. You should theoretically be safe to use it, but since your system is buggy, it might get you back to where you were when you opened this thread.

It is near impossible to get your phone to be bricked. Just follow the directions posted on the this thread and the V forums, and you'll be ok.
