Can you share that setup? I've been trying to know how rooted users get their battery life to be so great. I would love to know exactly what to do because I charge my phone at least once throughout the day in addition to at night. I've also been trying to figure out how to remove the text message limit from 1000. Yes, people argue that there is no need to do this but I am simply used to this option from Samsung and it never hurt my phone. If you could assist with both that would be awesome!
Two days ago, I got over 24 hours with mild-moderate use before the 15% low battery notification popped up.
I used Eclipse v1.3 ROM and Zeam launcher. The only widgets I had running were Google search, Palmary Weather, and Smooth Calendar. Palmary Weather was set to update either every 4, 5, or 6 hours, I can't remember.
As a general rule, Nitro's Eclipse ROMs help with battery life. This was true for Eclipse v2.0 on the Charge and Eclipse v.1.3 on the RAZR. I am sure there are other custom ROMs that can also help, but I trusted Nitro's Eclipse ROM on my RAZR because of my success with it on my Charge. It is also very stable. I don't think I encountered any errors on either phone while on Eclipse. I can't wait on him to put out Eclipse for ICS once it is released, as I'm tired of all the VZW bloatware and whatnot.
I've since upgraded to the ICS .75 leak. I haven't fully tested the battery yet, but I had about 35-40% after over 12 hours of moderate (maybe even higher) use the only time I thought to check. I just ran EmericanX's deodexer, and I've read that further improves battery life. I'll know soon enough. I'm currently using Apex Launcher with these widgets: Google search, Palmary Weather (update at every 4 hours between 6 AM and 11 PM), power control, and calendar. I love the new ICS calendar widget; it's much better than Smooth Calendar, and IMO, Smooth Calendar is much better than any GB alternatives. I'm still on Palmary Weather because it is the perfect combination of utility and good looks. Few can beat it in just one of those categories, and no weather widget can beat it in both.
Like the OP, the RAZR Maxx would have been a waste of money for me. My battery life has been much better than people on the forums have claimed, and I nearly always have access to a place to charge when it does finally run out.
