My battery life sucks. How about yourself?

Just an FYI, you don't need to turn off mobile data when on wifi. If you look you'll see you no longer get the 4G LTE icons when connected to wifi as it disables mobile data automatically. Once you're off wifi it turns it back on to get a data connection.

Rev.

What are the chances I got a defective android that has very bad battery life because of the phone. (using two diff batteries). Could this be possible?

You are at 50% battery after 4 hours, which seems like horrible battery life, but look at your screen on time - 2 hours!!! Many people of that screen time or less over a full 12-14 hour day! In that sense, your battery life is not bad at all since screen usage is a huge battery drain.

Seriously though, are you actually looking at your phone that much?!? If so, I am not sure what to say except turn your brightness down and buy a second backup battery. If not, then maybe something is turning your screen on inadvertently and that is leading to your horrible battery life. Problem is finding out which app that is - hopefully someone with more experience than I can help you there.

BUT, first we need to know whether you are truly looking at your phone for 2 hours out of 4 (and what are you doing) or not. Are you?

Haha well I do use it alot, almost non stop, I guess that explains that right? I dont know if its two hours though. That is strange.

I just had a thought. What is your auto screen off time set at? another post around here was complaining that his screen would come on for every text message or email he received. If that is happening to you and your auto shut off time is very long, then maybe that could be at least partly responsible for your high screen time?

When in the battery stats, touch screen... It will then show screen on time.

***Looks like someone else answered this and I over looked it. Sorry about that ***

Mines looking pretty awesome so far. This is with auto brightness off and brightness at max the entire time. Plus gps and sync on the entire time. Lastly, I had terrible cell reception all day as I was underground.

A thought. Do you guys who have crap battery life have power saver turned off? It may be the difference between you and everyone else.

I've also had disappointing battery life. I average about 8 hours before its dead. I'm not too concerned as I have backup batteries on order.

This is why I love this phone. First day of full charge and still going! Mild user, but it's my usage that really matters to me. Just saying.

Battery life is such a hard thing to judge. So much depends on what we each consider a "Mild user or Power user". Also take into consideration what are we doing? Picture or graphic extensive emails? Picture/Video texting? Youtube? Social media with constant updating to Twitter or FB? Music streaming? You get the picture..

There are so many variables to take into consideration its hard to judge anyone's battery life in particular.

Only way to really isolate what is going on is to attempt to change your daily habits... Example tomorrow take a break from your normal social media if that is your thing, see if your battery life improves.

From what I've seen this phone is pretty good as far as battery life for recent androids.

guys/gals, your phone will not go 8 hours with all of that being screen on time. No phone will without a extended battery (or Max).

If you can get 4.5 hours of screen on time per 24 hour period (with not many calls and the brightness at 25-45%) using wifi/3g then be very happy. 4G will drop that by a large amount too.

Mine last for about 8 hours with extensive use. I use it at the commute going to the office. That's one hour commute. From 100 down to say about 80 percent when I reach the office.

I average around twelve hours with moderate usage.

Screen brightness set to roughly 30%
Bluetooth off but all other radios active
4G enabled
Haptic feedback off entirely.
When at home, WiFi calling is enabled (without it, my phone drops to EDGE and constantly fights for a HSPA+ connection). This is a major factor in the longevity of my battery.

The killers for me are the typical issues.

Camera usage for stills and 1080p video capture.
Demanding games such as Modern Warfare 3 and N.O.V.A. 3
Finally, web browsing with sites that use Flash heavily.

My other difference is due to my Galaxy S2 using the 1.5Ghz Snapdragon series 3 processor and Adreno 220 GPU. I wish T-Mobile could have used the Samsung chipset but the difference in networks called for different hardware.

Yesterday I used my phone heavily with internet browsing, Facebook, couple phone calls, video games, a LOT of messaging, etc... and my battery lasted 11 hours.

I am a power user. I would last about 10 hours but every opportunity I get to charge my phone. I charge it so I cab usually last the entire day.the screen takes up most of my battery usage. I've adapted to having the brightness all the way down and using power saving at all times (is that bad? Does it allow my phone down?)

And when shall we see extended batteries? I've seen a couple on amazon but I don't trust them.

I have poor signal inside my house. It usually stays between -95 to -103 dBm and the restroom is a complete Sprint dead zone :P so on mobile network I get about 3 hrs screen on time. On wifi over 5 maybe 6. Havent run the battery down to zero as of yet

I use wifi when I'm home so that greatly helps battery life.

You should also reset your refresh intervals to manual instead of auto
