Android Central Question

For a while now, my callers have been unable to leave voicemail. I am currently using a Pixel 2 XL on Cricket Wireless. However I've only had this phone for a month, and I previously had a Nexus 5X. The problem actually started on the 5X, and I was already looking for a new phone, and I thought the problem was the phone itself. However, I am having the same issue with the Pixel 2 XL. My callers tell me that when they try to leave voice mail, they get an error message about the nework. I took the phone to Cricket, and their tech was unable to fix my phone. They said something about the APN. I actually got one the Cricket website and found the APN. It is listed on my phone, but I am unable to enable it. It is grayed out.
Can anyone help?

Thanks for the suggestion, and I did try entering the APN manually. It was already listed correctly except I couldn't enable it (grayed out). When I entered it manually, I had the same problem of the grayed out Enable/Disable.

I also think this is an issue that started with Android 8 update and is also present in Android 9, my current Android version. It has been going on for a few weeks. My voice mail used to operate just fine.

I'm guessing this is something you need to address with your carrier, as voice mail is maintained on their end. The only way your phone would have anything to do with it is if it's answering and then hanging up before it has a chance to time out the ringing and transfers to VM.

You may want to power off the phone completely, then have someone call you. What should happen is an immediate transfer to VM without waiting for the ringing (or maybe just one ring on the caller's end). See if they can leave a message this way.
