My chromecast was working, but then why did it say 'reconnect me' and then try to connect?

My chromecast was working perfectly, and then it started to say 'reconnect me' and then it started to connect! But then it said 'reconnect me' again. What should i do?

Welcome to Android Central! Have you tried rebooting your router?

I've been having the same issues with the Chromecast 2 ... Note I have three first generation Chromecast which all connect just fine to the wireless router WNDR4300 which has been rebooted and has firmware version upstream of the minimum requirements on Google's compatibility page.

There's definitely something different with the new Chromecast that isn't there with the first generation. I need to play with it a little more, I tried the following thus far that's pretty much isolated it to something on the wireless router:

(1) reboot router
(2) opened network (no password)
(3) remove simulcast of 5GHz
(4) connected fine to neighbors xfinity ssid
(5) tried laptop, iPhone, tablet all fail

Again the older Chromecast are fine ... It may be something like needing PnP or another mode set or disabled on the wireless router but I feel your pain since this is the first time I've had issues.

Is your DHCP range on the router wide enough?
