I lost my data in my broken android phone and it is locked how can i get back my quick memo

How is the phone locked, with an upswipe, password, numeric, pattern?
Is it encrypted?
When you say broke, do you mean the screen doesn't work, the whole phone doesn't come on, the battery is hanging out? What do you mean broke?
