My decision between the EVO and the EPIC...

I honestly don't see the big deal with widgets. I will disable all of them if I could. They were worthless to me and probably just drain the battery.

Right, I hardly use them to be honest. Only one I used on my hero was really the battery one. I like my layout clean.

Wait, what? I really hope they didn't mod the camera also! The original Galaxy S camera stills and video completely destroyed the Evo's, but now there are reports of WORSE stills and video? *Sigh* I knew there were a lot of downsides, but one of the reasons I was switching because I assumed the camera was going to be the same one as the one in the original Galaxy S had. If the Evo didn't have the fps cap, I would be going back to it. Not saying that this is a bad phone at all, but just that it has really disappointed me as these reviews reveal more and more flaws.

Based on the pictures i have seen it appears that the Evo takes better stills. I am not sure about the video because I haven't seen a side by side comparison.

Here is some footage from the Epic shot by Noah from phonedog. I am impressed with the quality. Much nicer than the EVO. The sounds great too.

Okay even with the paltry selection of images here I can tell you that the stills quality on the EPIC is better than the EVO.. the pics out of the EVO looks all f-ed up color wise.. Like the color you'd from a cheap walgreens keychain camera...

The camera and video camera were one of reasons I returned the Evo last week. Even after the froyo update was supposed to improve the video camera, it always was stuttered on playback. I know it's a phone but I was expecting better since my Pre takes pretty good video for me. The pictures also were never crisp even after messing with the settings and the flash was always too blinding when it was used.

What is the daily briefing widget that everyone keeps talking about? Sorry I haven't played around with the Captivate or Vibrant so I don't see the big deal about it.

It updates you on a lot of stuff (News, weather, stocks) all in one widget.

Honestly, I was laughing at this thread before, but after this week, now I must ask myself again: Epic or Evo?

Epic for me for several reasons. I had the Evo before and got rid of it for several reasons. The screen on the Evo is plain ugly, scrolling wasn't smooth then I read it had a 30fps lock, games lag and missed the keyboard.

The epic has solved all the things I hated about the Evo.

As of now, i'm still within my 30 days of having the Evo (from Radio Shack). I came from a Blackberry and with the Evo screen being so big, I thought I could get used to the on-screen keyboard but even after 2 weeks of usage, I find myself getting extremely frustrated with the typos and lack of being able to compose an email without going back numerous times to correct a mistake.

Not only that BUT I find that sometimes when i'm browsing the internet from my Evo, the screen will have a blue'ish hue and when I put my finger on it to scroll up or down, it turns a washed out white color. For me, that was really the last straw. Outside of that, It's still a great phone but not the phone for ME.

Thankfully, Radio Shack let me pre-order the Epic and the manager told me that once the Epic comes in, just bring my Evo back and it'll be an even swap since i've purchased the $50 gift card and my Evo was $200.

Being as this is the only truly high end android phone with a landscape keyboard on the market its a no brainer for me. The only other offered now is the droid 2 and I wont be going to VZW ever again (dont mark my words).

Trust me you dont want the droid 2 and its Blur bugs..Terrible!!! I returned mine fast...

When Sprint incorporates Froyo 2.2 with built in flash hardware acceleration, you will find that GPU power will be a big differentiator in this regard. And the Galaxy S line currently has the fastest GPU line.
