My Detailed experience with Battery Life.

didnt read whole thread...

after 6.5 hours of somewhere in-between moderate to heavy texting, app install, multiple setting changes and customization of phone battery was at 49%

all seemed good then the battery drained big amount after restarting once.. like to 35 i think...hopefully after few days battery gets worn in

At this moment I am at 10% battery left, 16h 40m 37s since unplugged. This is with three long phone calls and a few short ones, quite a few texts, taking some pictures, browsing and downloading ringtones and wallpapers for about 10 minutes in Zedge, checking email, making a few facebook comments, reading a few articles from pulse, trying out multiple wallpapers, and looking up various settings to answer questions here in the forums. All in all it's see a good amount of usage. My screen is around 30-35% brightness, and I am on WiFi whenever possible. GPS on all day, Bluetooth turned on whenever I was in the car, turned off when at home or work.

umm how? seems impossible with default battery on my phone

i am rolling at about 14 to 15 hours since last charge and i am a pretty light data user and the 15% warning just popped up. turned some syncs off and only turned mobile on when i used it. keep the screen dimmed until i needed it brighter. a few phone calls, some 720p videos and a few pics with flash, texts, short games, downloads and internet browsing. i think it is because i am not in a 4g area and only turned data and gps on as i needed it.

i am not really worried about the battery for my own person use.

Just brought my bolt back.. got a full cash refund. No restocking fee I'm happy to say.

It was really disappointing.. the phone/UI itself is amazing.

I'll miss android hopefully I can get another when batteries last longer.

I dont know why soo many people are complaining about the battery

especially when they were selling the 2750mah battery for half off

I purchased the Extended Battery, took it off the charger at 10am, did email, facebook, text, words with friends, foursquare, twidroyd, screen brightness at 36%, some web browsing, I am in a 4G area .... at 8pm, I stil have 56% battery.

I am VERY happy.

Just jumped over from BB to Tbolt this Thursday and was surprised by the battery life when I first got the phone. First of all the phone ran hot all the time even when I am not using it and I had trouble figuring out how to close out apps and tweaking the settings. The battery life lasted maybe 3 hours on my first day. :'(

After doing some research and talking to a few seasoned android users. I have adjust my all my settings (recommandation can be found on this forum) I also have advanced task killer installed. The phone no longer run hot even when in use.

I took the phone off the charger this morning at 9 AM, spend maybe about 15 minutes on FB, checking emails from overnight and sent out a couple tweets before I head out to NYC for the day. I was on the road to NYC by 10 AM, went in and out of 4G areas from Princeton NJ to NYC on the road, did not see a major impact on battery life due to that.

While I was in the city, I sent 17 text messages, read and sent out a few more emails, took over a dozen pictures, uploaded those pictures to facebook, checked in a few places on Foursquare with GPS enabled. I also did a couple 4G speed test (amazing speed), I googled a few things on the phone, played with speech to text for a few minutes, browse the Android Market and downloaded angry birds and angry birds seasons, played the first 3 stages of the Irish angry birds.

Tbolt was also passed around among my friends when we were having lunch, so 5 other people were poking around with it for a good 10 to 15 minutes, I made total 2 phone calls that were about 5 minutes long each. it's now 11 pm est (14 hours off the charger). the battery is now at 16% and has been sitting at 16% for the past hour.

The battery life is definitely not ideal, and it's slightly annoying that I have to dim the screen down to 30% and disable, gps, wifi, bluetooth when I am not using, but I have set up widgets to allow me easy access to those function when I need to enable those features. I will still get an extra battery (Seido's 1600 mAh) for situations when heavy phone use is required for work or a night out.

You need to get rid of ATK. This is a Froyo version of android and advanced task killer is actually reducing your battery life.

Can you explain why? I just checked the battery log; Display is using 62%, cell standby is 9%, phone idel 7%, android system 5% and ATK is only at 1%.

Again I am new to the android os, please explain to me why ATK is giving me poor battery life, when my very limited (62 hours and counting) is showing me otherwise.

Thank you,

Because ATK is constantly turning off apps which then just turn right back on and this doesn't allow the phone to drop into sleep mode. This is new with Froyo, with earlier versions of Android a task killer was necessary. Dump it!

ATK is actually helping kill your battery.

OK, I guess I will uninstall it to see if anything changes. If there other apps out there you would recommand that will work like ATK?

ps. I did a restart after uninstalling (not sure why I did that, might just be an old habit). The battery life dropped from 16% to 11%, I guess that cool thunderbolt start screen eats up a lot of juice.

Daily update... Battery is at 44% after 15h 8m 37s since it was last unplugged. Multiple phone calls and texts, and a lot of double-checking settings routes to give guidance here. Also read some on Pulse. 3G area, wifi on when I am home, Screen set between 40%-50% brightness. Bluetooth on as needed (a couple of hours).

Android is an OS with amazing possibilities, its just waiting for the user to take advantage of them. If you aren't willing, or able, to put in the time to learn about them and how to make the phone truly yours, then it's really not the OS for you. You would be better of with IOS or something like that. No choices but nothing to learn either. This isn't a dis of IOS, its just a statement of fact.

I came from 10 years with WinMO and less than a month with IOS. I tired of the slow, laggy WinMo OS and I didn't like IOS because it just plain wasn't fun.

when I got my first android phone I had a learning curve to go through. The first time I rooted a droid phone I was sweating and pi$$ing myself. But now that I've gotten past that I have a phone that does what I want, pretty much the way I want it to do those things. Its fun, its functional and I don't see myself going anywhere else for now.

I will agree that HTC needs to get its act together with their battery issues but those can be overcome with some help from long time android users and a willingness to learn.

Here is a real good in depth guide concerning battery life. Give it a look

I like this phone too much to return it just because battery life. But just get an extra battery and a car charger. Also let the battery grt used to charging and discharging for a week then see what happens ("condition")...

Battery day 2: Unplugged at 1:15pm with wifi on i browsed the web for about a hour with screen at 20% ish. Mostly the day was of web browsing these forums, my school website, checking that email, quite a bit of texting inbetween evrrything, some fb, google magic, and still at work at 11 the battery was at 10%. The main killer of that whole 10 hour duration was the screen at 65% use. After that was 8% internet i believe. So successful day? I believe so. Obviously charging now while writing this.

Knock that brightness down to between 40-50% and you'll probably squeeze another hour out of it. Somebody marveled at my screen today, and THEN I told them it was set that long. They thought it was perfect just the way it was. You probably won't even notice the difference.
