My Droid Maxx battery dies extremely fast

If I use my phone any at all and it doesn't matter if it's a call or a message or two it will be dead in just a few hours and if I don't keep by it plugged in it be won't make it 24 hours in sleep mode

Welcome to Android Central! The battery is probably on its last legs. The Droid Maxx is a 5 year old phone, so I wouldn't be surprised if the battery has degraded to this point with normal usage.
