My easy root process from scratch

First off I did this ADB for dummies

After following the instructions I downloaded the drivers for the TB here although it says for Desire it's for all HTC phones.

In the thread Easy Root I downloaded the adb needed file (800mb) and the adb.zip(needed) at the bottom of the first post.

After I was done, I extracted both onto my desktop using 7zip.

When you open the adb needed I just copied the rooter file into the Thunderbolt root folder and replaced the old rooter and ran it.

Each step takes roughly 5 minutes, don't be afraid to repeat a step if it doesn't work for you. I repeated step 3 about 4 times, I even just clicked it 3 times in a row to get it to work.

Hope this helps, everything should be explained in the program itself.

I rooted last night using the easyroot. It was difficult because the instructions left out too much. I read the entire thread at xda and figured it out and go the job done.

The other misconception is that this root takes the OS back to an earlier version and with easyroot, the image provided is still the current version.

If you want to give it a try go to the easyroot thread at xda and find the posts done by TheMorlance and he has a detailed instruction post that is much better than the original explanation done by the easyroot creator.

It's the same rooting procedure that jcase provided, just in a slightly automated way. It reverts the OS to a previous version for the root procedure and then flashes the release firmware with s-off. That's why it wipes out your data.

Guys, I'm having issues getting ADB to see the tbolt. I used the recommended drivers, but no use. Driver looks installed ok, just no access from adb. My other phone shows up fine however.
Debugging mode is on.

did you install the drivers from the site I recommended? Like after you install them, make sure the htc sense program recognizes your phone
