My emails won't sync on mobile data.

My emails won't sync on mobile data but they do when connected to wi-fi and they do if I tether to another phone. HTC U11 Android 8.0.0

Sign out of your account. Clear your cache partition and reboot. Go to Settings, toggle on data, toggle off wifi. Open your email (which app?). What happens?

Welcome to Android Central! Are you otherwise able to connect to the web over mobile data successfully (e.g., browsing on the web)? Have you asked your carrier about this?
