Suprise Suprise... HTC wanted a a higher spec'd camera on the phone to look good on paper, but MegaPixels dont translate to higher quality... Apple went the other route & put in a better camera with less MegaPixels... It's a trade off you'll just have to live with on the evo. Me personally, I would like a better camera with less MP's but the evo does fine for my purposes, although it does annoy me at times when my POS HTC Z(H)ero took better macro shots in low light.
Don't bring this dude down cause he stated an obvious but IMPORTANT point. Yes the iPhone's camera & processing is better to take a shot without fuss & have it look better. To some people this IS important on a phone even if it rains on your evo parade & your own personal priorities in a phone. The evo is flawed in several areas by HTC's own dumb engineering & NOT ONE OF YOU CAN DENY THAT no matter how much you love your beloved evo. Hopefully posts like this will tell HTC that numbers on paper mean far less than actual performance in real life.
Part of smartphones these days is sharing quality content with those you want to share your life with so the quality of a picture taken by your convenient phone MATTERS A GREAT DEAL to a lot of people. When on a photo sharing site, not a single person needs an 8 MP photo or even 5 MP cause it is scaled down by either your computer or the website, but the QUALITY of that photo is paramount. Who the hell looks at a 8MP photo in full size on a screen? NOBODY! & the quality of the evo's 8 MP photo's negates any benefit of a picture that big. Who the hell would want to blow up & print a fullsize grainy ass photo?
This topic that the OP posted IS relevant, & shows HTC needs to stop playing the numbers game & start focusing on QUALITY over poor quantity.
