My experience with HTC One M8 and review:
I fell in-love at first glance, Krait 801, Adreno 420, who gives about the camera, microSD expansion awesome! Front dual speakers?!
Even more awesome!
The first year was the best, I kept my M8 safer than a baby. I placed it into a Love Mei case
(if you don't know this case, think of placing your phone in a tank- oh wait think about throwing your phone at a tank and actually damaging the tank!).
I did plenty of stuff on my phone, from organizing everything in my life on it to remote controlling my Desktop PC at home when I'm out.
Battery Life was awesome! Heck I could've carry it 3 days without charging and almost a week if I used extreme battery saver
(I must mention I don't use my mobile phone too much, approximately 2h max total a day).
I really enjoyed how fast it is and how smooth everything works on it. Being able to change tasks quickly really helped me doing stuff on it fast and to the point and not waste my time.
That's all I wanted from a smartphone, I don't take pictures about everything, mostly documents and some personal images (~200 personal images the past year). I don't surf the web on my phone too much, only to gather information, Wiki, Googling information for questions I may have and the likes.
Reading books I did on my tablet so that's not what the M8 was for. My M8 was for quick access to the largest library on earth (The internet), managing my life (study/daily tasks/ lists/ Memos), accessing my PC when I'm not near it and taking pictures of documents mostly.
Now in comparison, all that I did with an iPhone 4 for 3 years. The iPhone lasted that long and close to the end it just got way to slow to do anything (iOS 7, I believe they fixed that issue by now).
So I moved to Android, to tell you the truth I'm really satisfied by Android, so many choices and so much more to do in an environment that resembles that of a Windows PC. After I got my One M8 I really questioned why I ever had iOS device (never again).
So why am I even writing this post?
Well, right after first year of use, the screen cracked…. In that tank of a case… (the case is completely ok and it's glass is intact), a bit after that the device stopped vibrating (keyboard, ringing, vibrate mode, notifications, everything no vibration at all). So I started looking it up and for a final step towards trying to fix the issue I did a factory reset via the boot menu, and still no vibration. That's 2 too many issues for such a short ownership and believe me, I really keep my phone safe.
All these issues just break my nerves, it will cost more than a perfectly okay 2nd hand device of the same tier to repair it
(and since the screen is broken the insurance won't cover at all).
overall I'm really upset by the build quality of the HTC one M8.
By build quality I refer to the fact too many stuff broke in a short period under good care. I don't care if HTC will use Wolverine's bones to create the HTC or some outer-space Silicon like material harvested from asteroids that is 10 times stronger than sapphire, the fact it broke says it all
(the screen broke from too much pressure from the case itself but I immediately lightened the pressure and all that while it was laid perfectly in the case).
Now, if you have read so far, I need your advice, which device would you suggest me to get that is identical in performance to the M8 but is build better.
If you see someone suggest a device and have experienced issues on that same device please mention it .
Thanks for reading, and thanks for commenting.
