My fingerprint scanner has stopped working unexpectedly on my Alcatel A3

My phone is barely even three months old and the fingerprint scanner has stopped working, my fingers were pruned from going to the pool but I made sure they were dry, it worked then but two or so hours later I found the fingerprint scanner to not work at all.

If it's due to water damage (it could be, no matter how "dry" your finger felt), you'll have to pay for a repair.

Otherwise, it's covered under the warranty.

(One thing you can try is adding a fingerprint. If it's totally shot, it won't acknowledge that you're trying. If it adds, delete the original(s) and add at least one finger from each hand.)

And don't have the phone near enough water to do that to your fingers. One little dip in the pool and the phone will eventually turn into a piece of useless plastic, unless you happen to have a few quarts of alcohol with you at the pool. (At least keep it in a couple of plastic bags (see Oh, no! My Phone got Wet!) when you're near the pool and dry off until your fingers unwrinkle before taking it out.

Try just wiping the scanner off with a microfiber rag.
