My First Negative on the X

I picked up the X on launch day, and have pretty much loved it every day.

Then today, bam, like a bad dream, my camera went blank. Literally.

It is really weird, like the shutter is locked shut. It is a black screen for both the camera and video camera (and the camera will not take photos). The screen will show all the menu items but otherwise black.

Verizon tech support could not find a software related issue, so it must be the hardware itself. Since no store has them in stock, had to have Verizon send a new replacement - won't see it for a week.

A week without my camera - hope I can make it.

Actually it is a known hardware issue that affects a small batch of phones. Good thing they are replacing it for you.

Thanks Cory. Looking at the thread, it seems to be exactly what I am experiencing.

Do you have to be registered to send a message on that Moto board you linked? There is a Moto employee that would like to have a message sent to him tracking the bad shutter phones.

Yeah you do need to register. I've sent Matt a few messages myself haha.
