My friend works for FedEx and is on the lookout for anything from Motorola or Verizon through his area. He just told me he has seen a lot of things going through for Sprint Photon as far as marketing material. He will call me if anything pops up because he is at a central distribution hub which makes it more of a chance to see those things. I'll update here if I hear anything.

Thanks,

I worked for FedEx Express for 6 years (I actually drove the truck and delivered packages). While employees have an IDEA of what's in the boxes from regular shippers like Verizon, Apple, etc, we have absolutely no clue what EXACTLY is in the box. That is unless your friend is opening up packages which would be unlawful.

The only way to know what's in boxes is to chat with the customers. Sometimes the employees will be like "we've been waiting for you!" and I'll ask them what's up at which point they will proceed to tell me what was in the box.

I fail to see how your friend can provide any useful information.

its called terrorism it changed all the laws why do you think some packages looked retaped

My friend works for Mc'Donalds near the Moto Corporate office. He said he will lean out of the drive thru window extra far and see if he can see the Bionic sitting between anyone's legs while they are getting their order. Then he will report back to us... O:-)

Question I don't know the answer to: Are 3rd party shippers governed by the same laws regarding this kind of stuff as the US Postal Service?

Nice lol :)

Give the guy a break. HE is NOT the one opening boxes. And as an employee at UPS its very easy to tell what’s getting delivered to corporate stores without even opening the box. Stickers are usually posted on the outside of the packages stating, "do not sell before xx/xx/xxxx" and by the way, UPS and FedEx is not the post office. No fed offence unless the package is marked classified or secret, So the most trouble you will get for opening a box is getting fired.

They dont open packages they have xray machines. So to the OP they dont open packages unless it looks like it has suspicious things in the packages( drugs bombs etc) And with xray machines it wouldnt show what is on the paper and yes I know I work with xray machines so I know what the images look like that come through.

I cant believe how desperate things have gotten with this phone..... I want Moto to just release the darn thing so I have to stop reading hundreds of posts/tweets/blogs/reports about this phone. Its irritating to the point of resenting this phone. Really..... a post about a box sorter will notify us if he "sees anything" really, ....really?

Privatized, but still covered by title 18 of the United States Code. As far as I can tell 3rd party carriers are not covered by this.

Right, privatized and self-sufficient entity not receiving any subsidies or backing of tax dollars, but still covered under gov't regulations and all of that jazz....
