in another thread someone told me i may need to wipe the cache partition > How to Wipe the cache partition on LG G Pad 8.3 | MobiAny but it doesn't work. my tablet never vibrates on reboot when I hold all the right combo buttons. it just boots up normally. i encrypted it. does that effect this?

i wiped the cache data in Settings > Storage > Clear cache. still slow [language cleanup].

so slow, i wanna break it. i turn it on, and have to wait like 5 seconds for all the apps on the home screen to load. sometimes even longer. it's really bad.

I used this app The Cleaner that clears cache. seems like it's improved, but still lags. i did not notice any difference right away. but i still wanna know my other options.

do i need to root it? i am thinking of resetting to factory settings. but i need to back it up first with all my data on apps and stuff. i am a tech doing backup for pcs and macs in the field. was just researching on how i could backup the android data like i backup the "User" folder under OS X and Windows 7, but seems like I gotta root my android first, or use an app like Helium.

any suggestions would be great. I am new to android, since this is my first. but i am weary on rooting my device as that voids the warranty. i think mine will end in a few months if its only a year. plus, i had a co-worker who messed up his android completely by trying to root it. but he always encouraged it. i never really understood why, until now...

I don't think there's a way to wipe the cache partition on the G Pad. If you'll notice in the video that is in that link, the hardware button method that is demonstrated does not get you to the Recovery Menu--it only gets you to a Factory Reset option. Not all devices allow the user to access the Recovery Menu--LG devices tend to be like this. MobiAny doesn't always give accurate information, in my experience.

Helium doesn't require root, as long as you use it with the desktop interface as well. Remember that many apps will save or sync data to their own servers in the cloud--do you have a lot of apps that save data only locally?

Apps that can impact performance include antivirus (which generally isn't crucial to have on Android devices) and "RAM boosters," so try uninstalling any of those.

i think all of my games have data that are saved locally. a few apps like Kindle is synced to my account.

I just uninstalled Avast, but in the Apps section it just says 'uninstalled' instead of it being gone... weird. a few apps say the same thing even after clearing cache... well, i hope this speeds things up.

i heard that androids could get a virus easily if you surf the web. so i got it. but i think you're right cuz it always scans my device periodically, even when i never do it manually. i don't have any memory boosters.

Android devices don't get viruses easily. It's more likely if you surf shady websites like porn, gambling, or pirated software filesharing sites. But you still have to manually accept the installation of the malicious app.

What Apps section are you seeing the "Uninstalled" status? Are you in the Settings>Apps menu? Or are you looking in the Google Play Store, under My Apps?

Settings > Apps > Downloaded

it could be because I have 2 accounts on my G Pad. i just uninstalled Avast on both of them and it went away. but a few apps still say "Not installed" still. maybe i need to uninstall them on my 2nd account, or they are sitting in the download folder or something.

That would make sense. I've never had more than one account on my devices, so I can't be sure.
