My Galaxy S3 screen went black and its unresponsive nothing works but I know its on, how can I fix it?

my galaxy s3 screen went black and its unresponsive nothing works but i know its on

nothing works except when I press the power botten the led light lights blue and I hear the tone but then nothing the screen is black and even when I press the home button nothing lights up it doesn't vibrate it doesn't respond in any way , it didn't fall or anything that just happened

It could simply be that the display has failed.
Make sure that the battery is still good however.
