Galaxy S4 in Kids Mode added a PIN - now I can't get into phone

HELP! My 5 year old was playing a game in kids mode. I don't know how he could have done this, but now the phone has a PIN. Not a PIN to exit kids mode - but a PIN to get onto the phone. I've never had a PIN or password on the phone - I was using a pattern for security but now it's not asking me for a pattern - it says "Type PIN code".

I've restarted the phone several times. It says that it will automatically factory reset after 10 unsuccessful attempts and I've already used 8. I tried the PIN that I set to exit kids mode, and 0000 and a few others. Nothing works. He's 5 and has no idea what he did.

Kids Mode was supposed to be a way that he could play a game and not mess up the phone, but now it looks like I'm going to lose everything. I can't believe this and I'm so upset. Someone please help me.

I apologize but I don't know of anything you can do to circumvent the PIN and avoid the reset. Unfortunately in your case, it's doing what it was designed to do.

Perhaps someone here knows a hack but that would point to weak security on Samsung's part.

Thanks for your reply.

What you said makes sense, but clearly something went very wrong with security on this device already. A PIN shouldn't have been added while in Kids Mode, and a PIN shouldn't have been added when there was already pattern security (which he doesn't know). I can see from the top line of the phone that Kids Mode is still enabled, and yet I can't get to it.

This is the very kind of problem that Kids Mode was intended to prevent, so I'm particularly frustrated. I didn't forget the PIN, I never set one and this came out of nowhere.

While I've heard of 'Kids Mode' 1 or 2 times around these parts I'm not familiar with it. If it is suppose to 'sandbox' your kids it shouldn't let them at the security settings. Something weird happened indeed.

Did you get this resolved or did you have to hard reset the phone.. I have the same issue with my Galaxy S5 except that no child was playing with the phone. I was just setting up the Kids mode and added some games to that section so that all my games were in one location. As an adult I have no idea how the phone got to the pin screen, but I cannot get out and only have 3 more tries.

Please let me know how you resolved your problem

My samsung galaxy 4 for in kids mode and I can't get out of it Please help/
You had to set up a pin when first getting into kids mode. Bottom right corner is a door to get you to that pin screen. If you did not set it up perhaps somebody else did it on your phone while you weren't looking.
