AC Question

So I got my s7 edge and I usb debugged it. I installed all of the correct drivers. But it still won't connect to my computer. Some people said to uninstall Knox, but it won't let me disable it. Every time I try and go under usb connectors to try and change from charging to mtp, it won't let me. Also it doesn't even charge when hooked up to my computer. Can anyone help me?

Welcome to Android Central! Have you tried different USB cables? Or used a can of compressed air to blow out the microUSB port, in case there's debris in there?

Are you able to try connecting the phone to a different computer?

Ok. Here's the fix that worked for me with Verizon: Go to settings, enter the search term 'Developer options,' after they show up, scroll down and turn ON 'USB debugging' then scroll down more and click on USB configuration, there you will FINALLY be able to see the MTP transfer option that you can't see anywhere else, thanks apparently to Verizon. Cheers.

PS - Keep this handy because apparently it resets to 'charging only' when you power off or maybe it was safe mode, but the issue is that you may have to reset it this way more than once.

When you connect to a PC, pull down the notification bar. There will appear a notification pertaining to the connection. You can tap that and see all the connection options such as MTP, PTP, and charge only.

Oh Thank You!!!!! I have been sitting here for 3 hours trying to figure out how to connect this phone to my PC - you area genius!!!

that option is dimmed out for whatever reason. Searches for USB on phone gives me nothing. My last ditch effort is to switch cables... as Iphones do weird stuff like that if it's a cheaper cable. All I want to do is dump pix on my computer and import mp3s to my phone without "going to the cloud". My work computer let's me do it, but not my home computer (won't find each other at all). Only says it's charging... and won't let me change to media device, camera or anything. It's just invisible. My S5 did it sometimes when I had it. There has to be something somewhere to turn off or on manually

Youtube videos don't even address this.

If it connects to one computer but not another then the problem is obviously with that computer and not the phone. That's just common sense. Uninstall/reinstall the driver for the phone on the COMPUTER.

If your work computer works, but not your home computer, I'm guessing it's your computer, not the phone. Have you tried using a different USB port? Do not use a hub.
