I am in dire need of some assistance if anyone out there could help I just found my old Samsung Galaxy and I don't remember the code for it and I'm trying to factory reset it I pushed the down button and the power button at the same time and a screen just comes up and says downloading and won't let me do anything else any suggestions

Asking how to bypass codes is not permitted. Factory reset won't help because of Factory Reset Protection. You can try contacting Samsung (or Google) with proof of purchase, your ID, etc.. and they might be able to help but is unlikely.

Good luck.

Welcome to Android Central! I moved this from the Introductions forum to the General Help forum, since it's not really an intro.

What exact model is the phone? If it's really old, you might be able to find a copy of Samsung Kies to reflash the firmware, which would be like a factory reset: https://xdaforums.com/t/guide-resto...ung-kies-works-on-most-samsung-units.1984717/

If it's a more recent phone, though, there aren't really any legit ways to bypass this security feature, as SyCoREAPER mentioned above.

We will not help you bypass any passwords, lock codes, pin numbers, swipe patterns, or any other kind of account/ownership verification on your devices. We have absolutely no way to verify ownership.

ALL problems of this sort should be directed to your service provider or product manufacturer. Contact them, provide them with the information they ask for, and see if they can help you. They are the only ones who will assist you in these matters. We cannot and will not give you any assistance with these problems.
