My GN arrived with the wrong size SIM

Merry Christmas everyone. I just opened my new Galaxy Nexus and when trying to get it set up I found the SIM card is not the right size and will not fit ( Christmas is ruined! ). I was hoping to be able just cut down the card but that doesn't seem to be possible. So tomorrow I'm going to Verizon but my question is.. can I start the phone without the SIM and at least start to play with it over wifi, or do I need to wait?

You should be able to start messing around with it with wifi.

you can always cut it down to correct size.

I bought my nexus second hand, so cutting down the sim was a necessity.
I used scissors and a razor to get it down for it to fit.
