My HTC1 phone is receiving repeat text messages and has been for 3 days and still is. How can I fix this?

My HTC1 phone is receiving repeat text messages and has been for 3 days and still is

I have been to my provider, Optus, who have replaced my Sim card but still they keep rolling in. He suggested I back up my phone on the computer and then go back to factory settings, but I really don't want to do that if possible.
