My Huawei P40 lite 5g doesn't allow me to set a screen lock pin or password

[Android Central Question]

Everytime I try to set a lock screen pin or password, I enter the pin and then confirm it and when I click done I get redirected to where I started with the options of fingerprint and Face ID, password and pin. The pin does not get saved and I always swipe to unlock my phone please help.

So you cannot set a lock, and you cannot factory reset. It may be worth contacting the manufacturer’s customer support.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Are you able to get to the screen lock menu in the system settings to create or modify your PIN in the first place?
