My iPhone texts sent to a galaxy aren't being received could it be my iphone

There's a little box in iMessage labeled SMS. Check that.

Also make sure that the recipient isn't a former iPhone user and still has his number in iMessage. You have to deregister the iPhone with iMessage before converting to an Android phone. Tell them to go to Deregister and Turn Off iMessage.
