Android Central Question

I was sending a text to someone when suddenly my phone screen divided into three sections, each a different shade of grey, and none of the letters pressed were being typed. The battery at the time was 78% and the phone wasn't hot. My phone isn't damaged in any way except for some scratching on the back. Every attempt I make to select an app is met with one of the bottom three buttons being selected, more often than not the home screen button, and it is hit repeatedly even when I'm not touching the screen. I reset my phone and an adroid update took place, fixing the problem for about 15 minutes, then it returned to the same issue and every attempt to fix it following that hasn't worked.

Not onto any hard surfaces, no. I've tossed it onto my bed and couch a few times but haven't done that recently. And I'm not entirely sure what safe mode is, but if it's a setting then I more than likely wont be able to get to it.

Welcome to Android Central! Unfortunately, it sounds like screen failure. Is the phone still under warranty? If so, contact LG. Otherwise, bring it to a repair shop, or consider buying a new phone.
