My local Verizon store has no clue about Thursday!

Some of these posts are very interesting. Interesting to see how other companies push their devices. Clear to see why LG is failing in this regard. More importantly, they have not changed their approach. Why should outcomes be different with this phone?

Apple and Samsung spend millions of dollars marketing their phones. The money is not just the visable TV and internet adds. They also spend millions in MDF, every display poster you see at Best Buy, your local carrier store is paid for with MDF funds. Meaning funds from the manufacturer matched with funds from the retailer.

I just spent two weeks in Europe and every wireless store I passed had Note 8 banners and displays. I have been back a little over a week I would guess now many also have iPhone 8 banners. I can pretty much guarantee almost all the sales people in these stores know Samsung reps. They have received training and swag to get them to like Samsung. The most important aspect is the training, no salesperson wants to sale something they don't know.

You can repeat all you want that it is their job to learn does not matter won't happen. LG has the responsibility to train, empower and build a pipeline of sales prospects to walk in the stores asking for LG. How responsive is LG, they leave V10 displays up in Best Buy over a year after the V20 is announced. Best Buy does not care LG is paying for that space. What message do you think this sends to the stores mobile sales team.

Okay -- I agree they do spend millions. I still don't see how they makes Verizon being controlled by them. I just see it as sales reps selling something that .. sells. Why would sales people not push the most known / bought products?

I still fail to see Verizon being controlled by them. I can go into Verizon and get whatever phone I want -- no matter what they push -- so I guess it just doesn't click with how I work in terms of something being controlled. Being controlled to me would mean something like they only sell that in stores and I have to go online to get the other stuff.

Just called my local Verizon. Had no clue what I was talking about when I asked if the new LG, the V30 would be carried tomorrow. Lol, so yeah, well done LG. Your marketing brilliance shines again.

Just a quick follow up note, the sales girl told me they had no idea when the phones are even being released, but did try to pitch me on the new Samsung and Iphone.

How could the sales reps not even have any idea when this phone would be available?

Because they don't make any money promoting them.

Good grief this isn't rocket science....

My local Verizon store just confirmed tomorrow's launch, with pricing at $840.00 (showed me on his little tablet) Stock had arrived in the store earlier today.

My amazement or amusement at the whole Verizon situation does not come from the fact that they aren't pushing the phone... But more so the fact that they don't even have any sort of idea that the phone is coming out. I certainly understand why other brands are pushed and are more financially rewarding to sell... But I have no idea about a phone that's coming out tomorrow is just really strange to me. I'd have to say LG keeps dropping the ball on this one. At least make sure the stores know your phone will be there, even if they don't need to push it for financial Rewards.

$840? Yuck. I thought all information confirmed prices at $800, with the high being AT&T at $810.

You are correct.....but up to this point Verizon had been silent about their V30 pricing. OH well, $40 isn't a deal breaker for me. I was prepared for $840 when that's roughly what it was selling for in S. Korea.

Just went into one of the smaller stores around me and they confirmed they will have it and let me play with their demo unit. The one I went to yesterday was the big corporate store!

$200 Visa card rebate at Verizon on V30 as well. Plus the free Google Daydream VR headset and 2nd year of LG warranty coverage. All free.

In the meantime..I don't want it..but I can find the pixel immediately...

Looks like the announcement is for ATT and TMO. I couldn't readily find something for VZW.

As an employee for Verizon I can say a couple things.

1.) We got our V30s in yesterday. LG phone launches do not bring with them any fan fair or promotions and when customers ask "Whats on sale" its not going to be that phone. (Although the G6 has been $200 off for 2 months) Why the rep in question didn't know launch? I can only assume he just wasn't informed or most just don't care about LG to be honest.
2.) Reps don't get anything for selling iPhones. Samsungs. LGs. Asus. We are paid equal regardless of phone. A smartphone pays the same regardless of costs and there are no spiffs anywhere.
3.) Reps don't like LG for a couple reasons though. Service issues. Primarily LGs since the G4 have the Boot-Loop issue (Thus LG extending warranties on there phones to 2years) The case companies do not support the phone at all with anything good leading to low attach rates on accessories and for whatever reason the tempered glass screen protectors from everyone never stick right or stay down on LGs screens.
4.) My store agrees the V30 is a decent phone. But we won't proactively offer it for reasons I stated above or it goes on sale and is a good deal for the price (Just like the G6 right now which is $20 Month and we have sold more but nothing compared to the rest of our lineup)

I fully agree, I never said Samsung and Apple control Verizon. My comment was to show how they drive sales to good marketing.
