My messages and call log have gone upside down. How can I get it right side up?

My messages and call log have gone upside down

When I get a new message it appears at the bottom of all my messages, I have to scroll down thru all messages to find it. When I send a message it appears at the top of all the messages from that person so I have to scroll all the way up to check it. In my call log new calls appear at the bottom and I have to scroll down absolutely all logs to find them. It's all upside down! What can I do?
I have a Samsung J1 and I got it last week and just tapped on the message icon to send messages. No app in particular. It was fine and normal when I got it! sorry I'm not very tech savvy and I can't find how to respond to the person who asked me that!!

That would be me Have you checked in your messages app settings? There could be an option to sort the list or to reset to default settings. Did this happen after a system update or something new installed in your phone? Sometimes just rebooting your phone does the trick.
