My microphone isn't working at all. HELP

It stopped working a few days ago and it still isn't working. When I record a video there's no sound. I mean the external speaker works fine, its just the microphone. I'd clean it out or whatever but I'm not 100% sure where it is.

When you are in a call, does it work there? If not, it might just be hardware failure, and no other way of fixing it than replacing the microphone

To test out if an app is causing it (it's possible... remote one, but a possibility) you could try booting up in Safe Mode. This would keep any 3rd party apps from running at boot unless you manually start them. If booting up in this mode and trying video and/or a call and the microphone still doesn't work, I'd say it's hardware.
